What is a 329 Card?

A Hawaii 329 Medical Cannabis Card allows patients to enter any Hawaii dispensary, make a purchase, and posess cannabis legally.

Qualifying Debilitating Health Condition

Eligibility for a 329 medical cannabis card requires having one of the following medical conditions.

Online Application

Residents must submit a completed 329 online application on the Department of Health website before their first appointment. At this step, there is a separate fee paid to the state: $38.50 for a 1-year registration or $77.00 for a 2-year registration, if eligible.

Visitors

The State of Hawai‘i allows eligible patients from other U.S. states with valid medical cards to purchase from Hawai‘i dispensaries. These patients must apply for a 329V (visitor) card, which is issued digitally and valid for 60 days.

Hawaii's laws

Medical cannabis cannot be consumed in any moving vehicle, on any school grounds, or in any public space including parks or beaches. Do NOT get on a plane with cannabis! Cannabis cannot be transported inter-island or between international or state lines – even if you have a 329 card. Learn more on the DOH site about restrictions.

Caregivers

Individuals who are unable grow or obtain medical cannabis on their own can designate a caregiver. While caregivers do not need to register separately, they must be identified on the patient’s application and receive a 329 Caregiver Card. This card is necessary to enter a dispensary on behalf of the patient. To learn more, visit the DOH site about caregivers.

Minors

Minors younger than 18 can be certified for the 329 or 329V Card as long as a parent or guardian is also registered as the caregiver.
